The Ultimate Foundation, the philanthropic arm of USA Ultimate, is proud to announce the appointment of Mike Edmonds to its Board of Directors. Edmonds joins the Foundation board as an at-large member, bringing its leadership to three directors alongside Board President Adam Goff and USA Ultimate CEO Kevin Erlenbach.

Edmonds is a highly respected leader in higher education and a longtime advocate for the sport of ultimate. He recently retired from Colorado College, where he served for over 30 years in various leadership capacities, including Dean of Students, Vice President for Student Life, and Acting Co-President, becoming the first Black president in the college’s history.
A familiar contributor in the ultimate community, Edmonds previously served on the USA Ultimate Board of Directors for two terms (2020-22 and 2023-25). He brings to the Foundation a deep understanding of various national and regional institutions and nonprofits. His record of service is extensive; he is a past chair of the Board of Trustees for Memorial Health System, past chair of United Way of the Pikes Peak Region, and has served on the boards of the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo and the Colorado Springs School. He was also appointed by Governor Bill Owens to the Fourth District Judicial Commission of Colorado and is a silver lifetime member of the NAACP.
His accolades include the National Speech and Debate Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award, the Educator of the Year Award from the Urban League of the Pikes Peak Region, and the Gresham Riley Award, which recognizes faculty and staff who have made a significant impact on the community through outstanding service and accomplishment.
“I am thrilled to have Mike join us on the Foundation board,” said Adam Goff, The Ultimate Foundation’s Board President. “Mike’s extensive experience with nonprofits, fundraising, and leadership will have a lasting impact on the Foundation. Mike’s decision to join the Board is a testament to the momentum we are building with the Foundation to fuel the future of ultimate. I’m genuinely excited to get to work alongside him to grow the game we all love.”
The USA Ultimate Foundation was established to fuel a future for the sport that is accessible to all backgrounds and identities by supporting USA Ultimate programs, partners and communities. The Foundation’s funding priorities are fostering access, growing youth ultimate, investing in local communities, and supporting the Girls’ Ultimate Movement and Delrico Johnson Fund.
Edmonds’ appointment and the reappointment of Goff to a second three year term were approved by the USA Ultimate board at its March meeting. With the addition of Edmonds, the Foundation Board is well-positioned to expand its fundraising efforts and strategic impact, ensuring the sport continues to thrive at the grassroots and youth levels.
